Many studies over the years have shown the power of a positive attitude and how it can improve mental health & also has great physical health benefits - so I thought I would share one thing we do in our home to help keep it positive. My husband actually started it after taking an army resiliency class. At dinner every night we ask each other (kids included) to name 3 things that was positive about their day & to give a reflection about it. I had a bad day today, a really bad day (lol!) And as silly as it sounds, refocusing with this exercise, I feel so much better! Some of the reflections in our house today were that Ciera (said) is loving softball, making new friends, got a 100% on her science test and it makes her feel good about herself & her abilities. For me, I said that my primary care physician was very good to me today, she is a very sweet lady. I can count on her to help me when I really need it. My friend Rhonda and I have grown even closer and she has a great sense of humor. It's nice to have close friends that you can trust, talk, and joke with! Those were just a couple examples of our positive notes and reflections. Give it a try at dinner, it opens up new conversations, reminds you that you are blessed, and makes you feel happy in general. Happy is good for your health!
